China: Rain did not stop the Aston Martin Vantage GTE
Recent partner with Total, Aston Martin has won a rainy race in China's FIA WEC stage with the new Vantage GTE. Danish drivers Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen helped the Vantage to perform well in Shanghai.
The first time for Aston Martin
Despite difficult wheater conditions (torrential persistent rain), the #95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE's drivers were willing to win the race. With two cars on the start, the british brand managed to put two Vantage GTEs on the podium, the #97 finishing the race in third position. It really is a success and prooves the expertise of Aston Martin and the skills of the drivers.
Marco Sørensen said after the race :
"It was definitely a long race in difficult conditions as you saw. I think we are both super happy that we got this first win with the new car. It seemed to be so quick that we were almost fighting for the overall victory today."
Nicki Thiim added:
"It’s been a huge learning curve for the team with this new Vantage GTE and to be standing here on top of the podium after all the work we’ve put in is a really emotional feeling. The whole team delivered today. We had the most competitive car, the strategy was spot on and everyone worked perfectly together to bring this result. I’m super-proud not only to be a part of the Aston Martin family but to be able to help deliver the first win for the Aston Martin Vantage GTE. It’s been one chaotic race, but the end of it has produced the perfect result!"
