On September 10th, Frankfurt International Motor Show opened its doors and unveiled the new Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE.
Mission accomplished for TOTAL and Peugeot!
In less than 15 months TOTAL and Peugeot have completed and exceeded the initial objectives of the technological demonstrator that were: CO2 emission of 46g/km and only 8s to go from 0 to 100km/h.
During the opening press conference Mr Picat, Managing Director of the Peugeot brand has announced the final results of the 208 HYbrid FE project certified by UTAC: “46g of CO2 and 1.9 liters per 100km! This project conducted in close collaboration with TOTAL shows that it is actually possible to reach 2L per 100km”.
According to James Foxall from the Telegraph, performances of the Peugeot 208 Hybrid FE are “remarkable”.

History of the project:
In March 2013, in Geneva, Switzerland, the new technological demonstrator was launched and revealed during the 2013 Motor Show!
In August 2013, the project finally came through and the Peugeot and Total teams, who have been working for months on creating this technological demonstrator, can be justifiably proud.
The two companies have combined their capacity for innovation in a breakthrough project: the 208 HYbrid FE (Fuel Economy and Fun&Efficient). The main objectives of the car were: low CO2 emission (46g CO2/km) and speed performance (only 8s to go from 0 to 100 km/h).
Up until now there have been low consumption vehicles and high performance vehicle. For the first time, these two qualities are combined in the same vehicle.
Development of a new oil
Work on rheology and friction reduction has allowed us to obtain with a new 0W-12 oil fuel savings of 2% compared to the best current benchmark, set by 0W-20. Depending on the type of engine concerned, this means a saving of 5% compared to a 10W-40 oil. And to further reduce our global CO2 footprint, this oil was developed with bio-sourced bases.
