Road safety campaign
Road safety is a growing concern :
- Nearly 1.3 million people per year die as a result of a road traffic collision
- 90% of road traffic deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries
- Unless immediate and effective action is taken, road traffic injuries are predicted to become the 5th leading cause of death in the world (2.4 million estimated death/year)
- Economic consequences of motor vehicle crashes estimated between 1% and 3% of the respective GNP of the world countries (total over $500 billion)
TOTAL, concerned by the drivers safety has launched a big road safety campaign targeting drivers of passenger cars, trucks and buses and motorcycle riders.
