TOTAL QUARTZ INEO MDC 5W-30
Points to remember
Synthetic technology engine oil
- √ Specially formulated for the latest generation of BlueTec Diesel engines of group Daimler with SCR post-treatment of the exhaust gases
- √ Reponds to the latest Mercedes-Benz Approval MB 229.52, backward compatible MB-Approval 229.51 & MB-Approval 229.31
- √ Suitable for all petrol and Diesel engines, particularly the most recent that meets the Euro VI international standards of polluant emissions
- √ Low SAPS formulation specifi cally intended for engines equipped with post-treatment systems
Protection against wear
The film of oil separates the moving parts and reduces friction due to piston movement in the cyclinder sleeve. The results obtained from these two tests showed that the surface condition of the sleeves and cyclinders will be maintained. TOTAL QUARTZ INEO MDC 5W-30 guarantees an optimum engine longevity and performance.
EXCELLENT PROTECTION OF CAM AND PISTON ZONE AGAINST WEAR
Guaranteed engine cleanliness
This test measures engine cleanliness. The results obtained demonstrate the oil’s ability to keep engine parts clean by limiting carbon deposits. Optimum engine cleanliness guaranteed.
EXCELLENT RESISTANCE AGAINST THE FORMATION OF SLUDGE
MAINTAINS ENGINE PERFORMANCE OVER THE DURATION
Resistance to oxidation
A specific test measures sludge formation in the oil sump. The result obtained ensures that the oil will last a long time and maintain its properties overtime.
In 2010, Daimler launched a development of first-fi ll oil for their new engines. During the program, they identifi ed a need to increase their requirements for one engine type (OM642 Blue-Tec engine). After applying this specifi c need to their factory-fi ll oil, they have decided to introduce a dedicated service-fi ll specifi cation for this application.
The MB 229.52 specifi cation is based on the MB 229.51 requirements but with higher limits on the oxidation and FE tests.
The scope of application of this new specifi cation is the Diesel vehicles equipped with the OM642 engine Blue-Tec version (used in Class R, ML and GL). Up to now Daimler was requesting a genuine oil for these vehicles but they decided to create a dedicated specifi cation to avoid any availability issues.
